Q. What is a Tyneside Flat.

A. Tyneside flats were built (almost exclusively) on Tyneside from about 1880 to the start of World War 1 in 1914. They have virtually all been updated recently. They are found in all the older areas of Tyneside. Picture here. From the outside they look like a terraced house with two front doors. One door leads to the upper floor and one to the lower. Today they are usually configured as a three bed upper flat and a two bed lower.

Q. How does a flat share work.

A. Our properties range from two to four bedrooms. Occasionally a group of tenants will not be big enough to occupy the property, so they look for an extra person to share, we can assist by passing details of people who wish to share, to those who need an extra person.

Q. Do you rent to students

A. YES, we are keen to rent to students, for Council Tax reasons students should not share with professionals, a student property is normally exempt from Council Tax, but if one professional lives in a property they could be liable for the tax on the entire property.

Q. How long is the rental period.

A. Normally 12 months, we occasionally have flat shares for a shorter period.

Q. Do I have a contract

A. Yes, we use the standard “Assured Shorthold Agreement”

Q. Do I pay a bond/deposit

A. Yes, a deposit of one months rent is payable, when the tenancy agreement is signed. This is returned at the end of the tenancy, minus the cost of any damage to the property.
